ISSA and NORMI have expanded their Indoor Health Alliance, a partnership first established in 2018, to more formally connect the cleaning and mold remediation industries under shared standards and education. The renewed agreement covers four areas: cross-disciplinary certification access, reciprocal membership benefits, coordinated advocacy with media and government bodies on indoor air quality, and unified professional standards. Cleanfax has been named the official publication of NORMI as part of the arrangement.

Under the expanded terms, ISSA members can access NORMI's mold assessment training at member pricing. NORMI members gain access to trade show resources through ISSA. Both organizations represent large professional networks, with ISSA serving the broader cleaning industry and NORMI focusing on mold inspection and remediation credentialing.

The alliance reflects a shift in how the industry understands building health. Routine cleaning and mold remediation have historically operated in separate professional silos. Bringing them into closer alignment means inspectors and cleaners may increasingly share protocols and training frameworks. For building occupants and property managers concerned about mold exposure, this coordination could lead to more consistent identification and response to indoor mold problems, particularly in commercial and institutional settings where cleaning staff are often first to encounter visible growth.
